SolidariTee at BPP and London South Bank University are delighted to host Philip Worthington (the Managing Director of European Lawyers in Lesvos) and Michael Raff (from the field legal team at Fenix) for a discussion on the importance on legal aid for asylum speakers. They will also discuss their career paths into legal aid work with refugees, and their experience in this hugely rewarding field.
We are so excited to hear from Philip and Michael, as both of these speakers come from NGOs that are funded partly by the fundraising we do at SolidariTee. It has been a difficult year for fundraising but we have pushed through it, and it will be great to hear about the real-life effects that our efforts have had.
Everyone is welcome! The event is open to people who do not volunteer for SolidariTee, so if you are interested in a career in legal aid or just want to attend an interesting talk on a Wednesday evening, please feel free to join us. SolidariTee largest entirely student-run charity supporting the international assistance of refugees and asylum seekers. Our campaign gets refugees out of camps by offering grants to NGOs that provide legal aid on the ground.
The event is free, but if you would like to donate, buy one of our fantastic t-shirts or just find out a little more about us, please visit our website: https://www.solidaritee.org.uk/
