The foundations for Generation Success were laid in October 2011 when BPP University students began a society to tackle social mobility and food poverty with volunteering and charitable activity. Today Generation Success provides a range of trail-blazing initiatives that help thousands of students Òbreak barriersÓ to professional success, whilst delivering value to their employer, as well as to academic and local communities.
About Generation Success
Our goal as an organisation is to bridge the gap between education, employability & Enterprise. We do this through our different initiatives which are designed to raise aspirations, develop skills, expand professional networks and going forward keep our network focused and working in line with their goals through online mastermind groups and a digital time and life management system.
Whilst the majority of corporates have an inclusive recruitment policy, recent studies like the McKinsey report )and similar publications) into education to employment show that only the top 10% (based on things such as financial background, support and Grades etc) are most likely to make the most of these opportunities. Meaning that there are so many talented individual who are currently being lost through the system for various reasons ranging from social economic background, low aspirations, current skills, lack of a network and poor support systems. Our desire is to try to make a difference.
Building a network is important specially since studies show that there are large percentage of employment opportunities (especially in small and medium sized business who are the UK’s largest employers) that are being advertised informally through word of mouth rather than more formal means such as recruitment sites and job boards.
The Generation Success calendar includes the flagship Food and Clothing Drive, fundraising events, the Dinner with Professionals, the Networking, Learning & Achieving workshops and our innovative Work-based Challenge Scheme. These activities involve high-profile speakers and coaches from some of the country’s biggest and most forward-thinking organisations and industry leaders. They help provide new-paradigm solutions for all of our partners in the private, voluntary and statutory sectors
In 2014 and beyond, with guidance from a stellar advisory board, Generation Success will continue to help bring about social and economic change by offering pathways to success where ‘giving back’ is rewarded.
