Extensions
You should apply for an extension when you think there are good reasons for getting an extension to the deadline for handing in an assessment Good reasons may include illness or other circumstances which may stop you from being able to complete your work by the set deadline.
If you are looking to receive an extension for your coursework, this would need to be approved by your School. The School, has the choice to give you an extension of one calendar week (7 days) to the assessment date. There may also be circumstances where the School may decide that a two-week extension is more appropriate given your circumstances, but this may only happen under exceptional circumstances, at the School’s choice, and were the internal scheduling of marking, feedback and examination board deadlines allow this. Once your extension is confirmed, your School will confirm the approved extension period you have received via email to your BPP account.
You have until midday (12pm) the working day before the first assessment to submit your completed Extension form. Here’s how you can apply for an extension:
If your learning platform is the HUB, the Extensions Request Form is accessible on the Hub in the Help and Support > University Documents and Forms tab. Click on the form called Extensions and complete and submit the form (instructions are on the form when you access it). You will hear back latest by 5.30pm the day before your assessment.
If your learning platform is the VLE, you can contact your programme team on the VLE via the “Query Form” tab at the top of your Home page. If you click on the query option for your programme of study in the form’s drop-down menu and type in your query (just as you would if you were sending an e-mail), a member of the Programme Support team will then respond to your query. Please write “EXTENSION” in the subject line. Then please write the assessment titles and date that you wish to receive an extension for in the body of your email. The School will then send you a link to the extension form. You will then be able to complete the Extension form.
